The Weeknd creates a new TV series

In June 2021, The Weeknd announced that he would be creating, executive producing and co-writing a drama series for HBO with Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson titled The Idol. Lily-Rose Depp and Weeknd are set to star in the leading roles alongside Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott and Hari Nef appearing as supporting characters, singer Poppy will provide the soundtrack with her upcoming EP Stagger. In November 2021, HBO gave the production a series order for a first season consisting of six episodes.

Synopsis: After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s played by Depp last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros played by Weeknd, a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest, darkest, depths of her soul?

Me Mind Y collaborates with GMM25

There’s a new popular Thai BL drama taking over the internet and it is Me Mind Y’s Love In The Air. Love In The Air is a Thai television series based on MAME’s novels; Love Storm and Love Sky; starring Noeul Nuttarat Tangwai, Boss Chaikamon Sermsongwittaya, Fort Thitipong Sengngai and Peat Wasuthorn Chaijinda. Leon, Aek, Tho and Natsu from Don’t Say No the series will also be guest starring as themselves.

Synopsis: Love In The Air portrays the tumultuous love stories of college juniors Rain and Sky who fall for broody hunks Phayu and Prapai. The first seven episodes are dedicated to Rain and Payu’s story while Sky and Prapai’s story comes after episode seven.

There are four episodes out already and best believe this series is currently blowing minds. The plot looks great and it doesn’t hurt that the four main leads are all handsome. Yay! The Sex Lives of College Girls Season Two has wrapped up filming

The second season for the teen comedy drama created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble which premiered on HBO Max in 2021 has wrapped up filming. In December 2021, the series was renewed for a second season; it stars Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp and Alyah Chanelle Scott. The filming for the second season began in late April 2022 and it recently ended.

The series follows the lives of four 18-year-old freshmen roommates at the fictional Essex College in Vermont, covering their sexually active lifestyle as they deal with different struggles and hardship that college brings.

The release date is unknown but it should be out sometime this year.

Everything to Know about Sex Education season Four

Otis and the gang are back for another season. In a tweet from the official Netflix UK & Ireland account which was shared in August, it was confirmed that Dan Levy will be joining the cast as new teacher, Mr. Molloy. In terms of those who won’t be returning for the new season, Rakhee Thakrar who plays teacher Emily confirmed she won’t be back for the next series, Tanya Reynolds who plays Lily also confirmed her departure from the show in July days after her on-screen girlfriend Ola, played by Patricia Allison announced she wouldn’t be returning for her role either and Simone Ashley who plays Olivia in the series also confirmed she wouldn’t be returning for the new season following her success as Kate Sharma in Bridgerton season 2. Apart from these, the remaining cast will be returning for the new season.

In mid-April 2022, Asa Butterfield who plays Otis disclosed that filming hadn’t yet started on the fourth season and Netflix hasn’t confirmed a release date for season 4 yet but it will likely be released at least late 2022. We’ll have to wait until closer to the season 4 release date for any teasers.

Abbott Elementary Season Two premieres September

The American mockumentary sitcom television series that was created by Quinta Brunson for ABC returns for a season two on September 21. It stars Brunson as a second grade teacher at Abbott Elementary, a fictional predominantly Black school in Philadelphia; the ensemble cast includes Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

The series premiered as a midseason entry in the 2021–22 television season on December 7, 2021, and was met with critical acclaim and it was renewed for a season March 2022. The show was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, with Brunson, James, Ralph, and Williams all receiving nominations for their performances.

Heartstopper Season Two begins filming September

After being a success loved by many after its release, Heartstopper has been confirmed for two more seasons. Kit Connor and Joe Locke will be returning as returning as Nick and Charlie respectively. As the pair starts their relationship together publicly, they’ll be supported by their best friends Elle played by Yasmin Finney, Tao played by William Gao, Tara played by Corinna Brown, Darcy played by Kizzy Edgell,  Isaac played by Tobie Donovan, Olivia Colman will also likely be back as Nick’s supportive mother, Fisayo Akinade will return as Mr Ajayi, Sebastian Croft playing Ben Hope; Charlie’s closeted and bullying secret ex and Rhea Norwood will likely complete the cast as Imogen. There will always be potential for some new faces as well; it is also said that the show is also on the lookout for someone to play Year 11 student Sahar Zahid. It was announced earlier this month that producers were looking for a plus size actor of British South Asian heritage who is female or non-binary, and based in the UK.

Is Harry Potter coming to Netflix?

If you are a fan of the fantasy books and series, then you will be terribly disappointed because this is untrue.

Red, White and Royal Blue wraps up filming

In June 2022, Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine were announced as the movie’s leads, playing Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry respectively in the book to film adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s Red, White and Royal Blue.  Uma Thurman was confirmed to play Ellen Claremont, Clifton Collins Jr., Stephen Fry, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Ellie Bamber, Aneesh Sheth, Polo Morin, Ahmed Elhaj and Akshay Khanna were also announced to be joining the cast. Production began in UK in the same month. In July 2022, Sharon D. Clarke, Malcom Atobrah, and Thomas Flynn was announced to be joining the cast; Thomas Flynn is set to play Prince Philip.

 The lead actors confirmed on Instagram that primary production had completed by 15 August, but the date of release is yet to be known.

Harry Styles stars alongside Florence Pugh in Don’t Worry Darling

Don’t Worry Darling is a psychological thriller film directed by Olivia Wilde from a screenplay by Katie Silberman, based on a story by Carey Van Dyke, Shane Van Dyke, and Silberman. The film stars Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Wilde, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, and Chris Pine. Pugh joined the cast in April 2020, with Styles being added that September, replacing Shia LaBeouf.

The film’s reportedly troubled production was the subject of media attention and controversy, including conflicting reports regarding the circumstances of LaBeouf’s departure and alleged conflicts between Wilde and Pugh. Don’t Worry Darling had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on September 5, to mixed reviews from critics, who praised Pugh’s performance, and the scenography, but criticized the screenplay, Styles’s performance, and Wilde’s direction. It is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on September 23 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Synopsis: Alice and Jack Chambers are a young, happy couple in the 1950s, living in the seemingly perfect company town of Victory, California, which has been created and paid for by the mysterious company for which Jack works. Curiosity about the nature of her husband’s work on the secret “Victory Project” begins to consume Alice. Cracks then begin to form in their utopian life as her investigation into the project raises tensions within the community.

Young Royals S2 wraps up filming, set to release November

On July 1st which was the one-year anniversary of the show’s premiere, Netflix tweeted a photo of the cast alongside a November release date. They also released a bunch of first look photos. The second season is schedule to release November.

More of the main cast will return as Edvin Ryding, Omar Rudberg, Malte Gårdinger, Frida Argento, Nikita Uggla and Pernilla August will all be retueing to play their roles. The new addition to the cast is Marcus however there isn’t any other information apart from that.

Barbie Ferreira leaves set of Euphoria

Ferreira who is best known for her role as Kat in popular HBO series, Euphoria reveals that she has left the series and won’t be returning for the third season due to alleged disagreements with series creator Sam Levinson. After dropping a teary goodbye, she recently announced that she is to join Ariana DeBose in the upcoming Amazon Prime psychological thriller House of Spoils. We are looking to see more of her.

New GMMTV shows

GMMTV; a television production and talent agent subsidiary to the Thai entertainment conglomerate GMM Grammy, under The One Enterprise which produces television shows, songs, and music videos has been responsible for producing some of the best BL series to come out of Thailand.

Wanuri Kahiu’s Look Both Ways becomes the number one movie on Netflix

 The romantic comedy drama film directed by Wanuri Kahiu stars Lili Reinhart, Luke Wilson, Andrea Savage, Aisha Dee, Danny Ramirez, David Corenswet, and Nia Long.

The film was released on August 17 on Netflix and it became the number one movie upon its release.

Bones and All receives a 8.5 minutes standing ovation at Venice Film Festival

Luca Guadagnino and Timothée Chalamet has been proven to be a great pair especially with Call Me By Your Name and they do not disappoint this time around as well. Their follow up, the romantic coming-of-age horror film, Bones And All, which also stars Taylor Russell was among the most anticipated of this year’s film festival circuit.

Their YA adaptation received an eight-and-a-half-minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival where it premiered, resulting in the longest applause of this year’s festivities. It is scheduled for release November 23.

Synopsis: The film follows cannibalistic lovers; Maren and Lee as they embark on a road trip across Reagan-era America.

Kit Connor teams up with Maia Reficco on A Cuban Girl’s Guide To Tea and Tomorrow

Ace Entertainment has approved the production of the adaptation of Laura Taylor Namey’s bestselling novel A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow. The film will feature Maia Reficco, Kit Connor, and Kate del Castillo in the main cast and production has already started.

Synopsis: It follows Miami girl Lila Reyes who has her life planned out working in Abuela’s Cuban bakery. However, her life changes after the loss of her grandmother. In order to cope with the grief her parents send her to spend the summer cooking at her Aunt’s inn in Winchester, London. It’s in the English town where she meets and falls in love with a charming British shop clerk, Orion. But she already has a boyfriend back home she planned to spend her life with. But after meeting Orion a new future begins to form in Lila’s mind — one that would mean leaving everything she ever planned behind.

Jenna Ortega stars as Wednesday in TV series Wednesday

Also known as Wednesday Addams, it is an upcoming comedy horror television series based upon the character Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family. Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, it stars Jenna Ortega in the titular role, with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Issac Ordonez, and Gwendoline Christie in supporting roles. Wednesday is set to premiere on Netflix and it has eight episodes.

Synopsis: A coming-of-age supernatural mystery comedy focusing on Wednesday Addams and her years as a high school student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her psychic powers, stop a monstrous killing spree of the town citizens, and solve the supernatural mystery that affected her family 25 years ago—all while navigating her new relationships.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two

Dune: Part Two is an upcoming epic science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve from a screenplay by Villeneuve, Jon Spaihts, and Eric Roth. It will serve as a direct sequel to the 2021 film as the second of a two part adaptation of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert amf will cover roughly the second half of the book.

Returning cast members from the first film include; Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem while new cast members include; Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux.

CW cancels Dynasty

The CW remake of the 1980s prime time soap opera of the same name, Dynasty has finally come to an end after five seasons. The series was among the series canceled by CW early this year. Other series include: Charmed, Roswell, New Mexico, In The Dark, 4400 and Naomi.  

Pete Davidson stars in rom com; Meet Cute

Meet Cute is an upcoming romantic comedy film starring Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson and directed by Alex Lehmann.

It is scheduled to be released on September 21, 2022, on Peacock.

Synopsis: The film follows Manhattan-native Sheila who “discovers a time machine in a nail salon and uses it to continually fix elements of a date she had the previous night.”
