Popular streaming platform, Netflix crashed due to the high number of fans who were trying to watch Stranger Things after the highly anticipated release of the final two episodes of season four. The show’s fourth installment had already set the record as the No. 1 English-language series on Netflix after the first seven episodes were released on May 27.

Stranger Things 4 was divided into two volumes; Volume 1 which was released May racked up 930.3 million hours of streaming viewership in its first 28 days on Netflix, breaking a record previously held by Bridgerton. The second volume was released on the 1st of July.

Plot

Stranger Things is an American science fiction horror drama television series created by the Duffer Brothers. The first season of the series was released on Netflix on July 15, 2016, with the second, third, and fourth seasons following in October 2017, July 2019 and May and July 2022 respectively.

The show is set in the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana during the 1980s. The nearby Hawkins National Laboratory ostensibly performs scientific research for the United States Department of Energy but secretly does experiments into the paranormal and supernatural including those that involve human test subjects. Inadvertently, they have created a portal to an alternate dimension, “the Upside Down”. The influence of the Upside Down starts to affect the unknowing residents of Hawkins in calamitous ways.

The fourth season is set during March 1986. Joyce, Will, Eleven and Jonathan have moved to Lenora, California for a fresh start where Eleven struggles with the loss of her powers and bullies in school. Meanwhile, a new monster named Vecna from the Upside Down begins targeting the residents of Hawkins possessing and killing them. To help her fight off this monster, Dr. Owens and Dr. Brenner, aka Papa takes Eleven to a facility to help her regain her powers. Meanwhile, Joyce and Murray fly to Russia to rescue Hopper from the Gulag at Kamchatka where a captive Demogorgon also resides.

The series stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Cara Buono, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Joseph Quinn, Jamie Campbell Bower and Nikola Djuricko.

Here are some unpopular opinions about Stranger Things recently released season four 

1. It began out of necessity but it’s now a tradition on Stranger Things for executive producer Shawn Levy to direct the third and fourth episode of each season. He directed the iconic Season Four’s “Dear Billy”
2. Season four would have been perfect if there were more scenes of Will than Jason. Will deserved so much better this season but I can only hope for a better season five for him.
3. To create the upside down, Stranger Things’ art department used: 63, 432 lbs of urethane resins, 272, 500 lbs of rope, 18,300 pool noodles and 78,000 sq ft of bubble wrap.
4. Stranger Things became the most watched show on Netflix in its first 28 days with a stat of 781,040,000 hours.
5. Vecna wasn’t CGI. There is a whole video up on how they created the infamous 001/Henry/Vecna. It is insane to see the amount of time the actor and the team dedicated to create this masterpiece. Big ups to them
6. In relation to the iconic episode four, Spotify partnered with Stranger Things to create a playlist that updates daily to help discover your personal playlist to help you escape from Vecna and the Upside down.
7. Kate Bush’s Running up that Hill became the UK’s number one single also after the iconic episode four, “Dear Billy”.
8. Sadie Sink and Maya Hawke have worked together on a project similar to Stranger Things titled Fear Street. It is a slasher horror trilogy that is equally good. Maya also stars alongside Camila Mendes in an incoming dark comedy titled, Do Revenge.
9. To get revved up for a big scene, Millie Brown often does jumping jacks. Yunno it is never too late to learn new tricks.
10. Even though many viewers considered Mike unnecessary this season, I beg to differ because he was the “Deus Ex Machina” of the season who plays such an important part. Even though Mike doesn’t show up abruptly, when all hope seemed lost he was the right person to say the right things Eleven needed to hear at that moment.
11. The actress who plays young Eleven is an actual child actress and not young Millie Brown. Her name is Martie Blair and she was directed by Millie every step of the way.
12. Jamie Campbell Bower plays Vecna/001/Henry.
13. Some of the scenes in Season Four weren’t scripted.
14.  Stranger Things 4 scored 13 Emmy nominations this year including; Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup and Outstanding Music Supervision for Dear Billy, the episode that features Kate Bush’s 1985 hit Running Up that Hill.
15. The character, Eddie was insipred by the real life story of Damien Echols.
16. Mike and Eleven is the ultimate ship plus Will deserves to find someone better than Mike and someone who is meant for him which isn’t Mike. According to Brett Gelman, “Let me be clear that I also ship Eleven and Mike. If that is what is meant to be. Regardless I hope Will finds love as well as love for himself and who he really is. No one should feel ashamed for who they are and who they love.”
17. As usual, the cast and crew of Stranger Things delivered yet another solid season; they didn’t fail to make this season as horrifying as it could get and this is well appreciated. Every member of the cast was necessary for the development of the storyline and each one of them acted brilliantly in relation to their characters.
18. Stranger Things has attracted record viewership on Netflix, and has received critical acclaim for its characterization, atmosphere, acting, soundtrack, directing, writing, and homages to 1980s films. It has received many awards and nominations, including: the Golden Globe Awards, British Academy Television Awards, Directors Guild of America Awards, Writers Guild of America Awards, and Grammy Awards. Season Five which is also the series finale is set to be released 2023/ 2024.

In conclusion, the cast and crew of Stranger Things deserve all the accolades they get for delivering this masterpiece. If you haven’t watched it yet, the show is highly recommended. It is available on Netlix.
